Course Progression Map - Hydraulic Fracturing

Hydraulic Fracturing

4.4 Average client rating (based on 106 attendee reviews)

This 5-day classroom course is an introduction to fracturing completions. The course overviews the complete hydraulic fracturing process; discussing the type of reservoirse, formations and well candidate for fracturing; describing the modeling of hydraulic fractures; detailing the design and intepretation of calibration treatments (step-rate-test and mini-frac); and, explaining the types of fracturing fluids and proppants used in the industry. The course is focused in fracturing of low permeability formations, however the techniques used for fracturing high permeabilities are also discussed (tip-screen-out), as well as the techniques recommended for perforating. The preparation, execution and evaluation of hydraulic fracturing operations is discussed. Fracturing in unconventional reservoirs (shales) is also discussed.

At the end of the course, Participants will understand the purpose of this type of well completion, the specifics of its design and evaluation and will be able to discuss with Service Companies the details of these operations.
