Basics of Pressure Transient Tests

The Basics of Pressure Transient Tests course is a VILT (virtually instructor led training) delivered in real time. The course will be taught in 4 hour sessions over a 2 day period and is delivered using the WebEx platform. Our virtual training methodology incorporates passive and active learning in an effort to achieve the best virtual training experience.

This course will enable participants to understand the fundamental concepts of well test analysis. The methodologies described in the course, which have become the standard of the industry, will present a systematic way of interpreting well tests.

Well potential can be determined from information on pressure and flow rate as a function of time.

Wireline tests provide good pressure measurements and can provide useful samples and formation property estimates in some cases.

Attendees will be introduced to the main concepts of well test analysis. Topics covered will include the concept of the interpretation model and straight-line and pressure log-log analyses. Examples of wells with wellbore storage and skin effect in an infinite reservoir with homogeneous behavior will be presented.

This course will be delivered in 3 virtual sessions of 4 hours each. The first session is an overview of Reservoir Engineering and reservoir fluid phase behavior; the second session discusses the fundamentals of fluid flow in porous media, reserves estimation and fractional flow concept, session three covers analytical reservoir engineering methods like DCA, MBA and PTA.
