Offshore Facilities

This course is designed for offshore, topside, and subsea engineers.  This course covers the basic understanding technologies and processes for the offshore facilities for shallow, deep and ultra deepwater.  The course will include an analysis of the phases for offshore oil and gas developments, as well as a timeline method for the calculation of construction, assembly work, and inventory when developing offshore fields.

    Day 1

    Major trends of construction development in the offshore areas

    • Offshore facilities classification
    • Typical development phase and timeline for offshore project
    • Offshore systems overview and field architecture 

    On the first day, participants will learn about offshore facilities classification for shallow, deep and ultra deep, type of platform, and floating production systems will be covered on this day.  Fixed platforms, semi-submersibles, floating production storage, offloading systems, and tension leg and spar platforms will be discussed.  The typical development timeline for offshore oil and gas fields covering assessment, exploration, appraisal, and definition will be also covered.  

    Day 2

    Offshore Production Facilities

    • Wellheads and umbilical
    • Pipelines and risers
    • Oil and gas processes
    • Topside facilities

    Offshore production facilities will be the focus of day two.  Specific topics that will be covered include wellheads, umbilical, pipelines, risers, injection wells, flow assurance and integrity management.  The oil and gas processes, chemicals, additives, and topside facilities will also be discussed on this day. 

    Day 3

    Offshore Facility Construction

    • Structural considerations
    • Facilities layout
    • API RP2A evolution
    • Construction engineering      

    Day three of this course will focus on structural considerations for offshore facilities.  Environmental, geographical, and soil considerations will be covered.  The day will continue with a discussion of offshore facility layouts, primary considerations for the construction, API RP2A evolution, and construction engineering for the offshore facilities.

    Day 4

    Subsea Production System (SPS)

    • Concepts and definitions
    • Advantages and disadvantages
    • Flow lines, flow assurance, and material selection
    • Subsea technology, equipment, and operation

    On day four, the subsea production system (SPS) will be covered.  Participants will learn about the concepts, definitions, typical system architecture, advantages, and disadvantages of the SPS.  Design drivers, general design requirements, equipment, and operation of the SPS will also be covered.  The day will end with a discussion over subsea technology, equipment, and operations, as well as the global energy balance.   

    Day 5

    Digital Oilfield Monitoring 

    • Data acquisition and management
    • Control and monitoring systems
    • Instrumentation and integrated system
    • Case history

    The last day will focus on digital oilfield monitoring.  Digital oilfield production monitoring, control, and optimization technology will be covered.  Control and monitoring systems, instrumentation, integrated systems, and case history will also be discussed.  The day will end with participants learning about data acquisition and management instrumentation, as well as real examples of integrated systems.
