    Sewage System

Sewage treatment includes physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove contaminants in waste water and sewage streams.  Its objective is to produce an environmentally safe fluid waste stream and a solid waste suitable for disposal or reuse.

In this course participants will be exposed to typical sewage treatment systems through the use of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) drawings and the types of initial treatment systems used in industry.  Participants will also learn about the processes and systems used to treat and dispose of sewage once it has been through the initial treatment process.  The health, safety, and environmental issues will also be discussed.

    Day 1

    Initial Sewage Treatment

    • Initial sewage treatment flow diagram
    • Primary and secondary treatment
    • Sewage collection
    • Odor control

Participants will gain an understanding of the configuration and operation of initial sewage treatment systems, on the first day.  Then, the collection and odor control systems used after initial treatment will be discussed.

    Day 2

    Secondary Sewage Treatment

    • Package plants and batch reactors
    • Sludge treatment and disposal
    • Safety, health, and environment

On day two, participants will gain an understanding of the configuration and operation of packaged sewage treatment systems and batch reactors.  They will learn about the processes used to stabilize and dispose of sludge after initial treatment.  The importance of adhering to environmental compliance and reliability issues faced in day-to-day operational activities will also be covered.

This course is mainly targeted to process technicians, process technologists, and maintenance personnel.  The course can also be applicable to employees working with equipment and materials purchasing, equipment procurement, job planning, as well as immediate supervisors to the working technicians.
