GeoX Prospect Assessment Fundamentals

This three-days course is focused on providing attendees with an overview of the methods required for assessment of the risks and uncertainties within a contemporary prospect evaluation. Participants will learn the principles and concepts that should be applied when assessing both simple and complex prospects.

Delivered in a workshop style, the course combines lectures on the principles of stochastic volume calculation, pre-assessment data collection and analysis; manual volume calculations exercises and exercises using the GeoX software suite to illustrate the analytical methods used to assess the risks and uncertainties of an exploration prospect. In the last session of the course the participants will use a case study to run their own GeoX prospect assessment.

    How to get from the Airport to Oslo city

    When you get to Oslo Airport Gardemoen the easiest and fastest way to get to town is by taking the “Flytoget” (the airport express train). It takes only 21 minutes to get to Oslo Central Station. The ticket is 160 NOK, and can be bought with creditcards on special new credit card machines before you board the train. (Note: when going back to the airport you have to slide your card through the machine before and after the journey). Once at the Central Station it would be easiest to then take a taxi to the hotel.

    How to get to the Schlumberger offices in Asklakveien 14E

    The Underground station is a blue sign with a big T in a circle (“T-bane”). Buy a ticket before you get on the train (See Fares below). Take line number 5 towards Østerås and get off at Røa. The stop before Røa is called Hovseter.

    If you wish you can take a taxi from the hotel to Schlumberger’s offices. If you're traveling in a group, this may be cheaper and easier than catching the train. The trip will take approximately 15-20 minutes, depending a bit on traffic of course.

    10 minutes walk: When you get to Røa station you go to the other side (as though you are taking the train back) and start walking over the parking place and on to a small gravel road. Then continue straight through the housing area and past the parking place. You then take a left and continue straight on to the road makes a natural right turn. You will see Schlumberger’s offices on your left hand side.
