drilling engineering for non-drilling engineers
Program Description
The program is designed to give non-Drilling Engineers the basic understanding of drilling engineering topics in order to improve the communication among the asset team members. One can attend the course in full or week one and two independently, based on the needs of the individuals.
The first week is designed to set the scene with more fundamental topics of well construction. The second week builds on the knowledge acquired from Week 1. It covers detailed well design theory and methodology, and an overview of advanced drilling techniques. Syndicate exercises are designed to enhance the appreciation of the concepts presented and gain further insight to the work associated with well design optimization process.
Comment from one participant:
"Following the course, my appreciation of drilling operations has definitely increased. I remember, when I visited a rig (for the 1st time) 4 weeks before the course, I was shown the shale shaker and did not take any notice of it - not knowing all the essential information it contains."
