    INTERSECT Reservoir Simulation - Advanced

This course learning contents are designed to build on the INTERSECT Reservoir Simulation fundamental course. The advanced course provides a variety of advanced features for both setting up and controlling reservoir simulations.INTERSECT provides a variety of advanced features for both setting up and controlling reservoir simulations.

These provide the reservoir engineer a great deal of flexibility in how he sets up and controls his or her reservoir simulation.

The course focusses on the 4 key areas of functionality.

    • Setting up the initial conditions in INTERSECT with physically inconsistent data.
    • Setting up constraints for injection and production management
    • Optimizing the field management interventions in the presence of resource constraints
    • Controlling the reservoir in the presence of a network.

The initial conditions section looks at the choices that the reservoir has to make to resolve inconsistent data measurements and the functionality in INTERSECT to support these decisions

The Section on production and injection management looks at how to set up complex sets of constraints in field management and the section on actions shows how complex control strategies can be implemented and optimal choices made for increasing recovery from the field when operating with limited resources.

The section on network control explains how to connect INTERSECT to one of the external network simulators it supports and how the ENS extension to INTERSECT allows the rapid simulation of simple networks and their impact on the operation of the reservoir.
