    Basic Firefighting

    Course Description

    • The Basic Fire Fighting course is a step up from the Basic Fire Awareness course and entails additional firefighting techniques and how to apply them in a safe and correct manner. This course is aimed at preventing fires, creating a prepared environment, and building confidence when faced with this unexpected emergency.
    Course objectives:
    • The purpose of this basic firefighting  training is to give participants skills, knowledge, and expertise that will enable them to identify the conditions capable of causing fire, know how to use a fire extinguisher, respond appropriately to fire emergencies and follow the fire evacuation plan, adequately implement fire emergency procedures.
    Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:
    • Successfully extinguish fires with the use of a fire extinguisher.
    • Successfully evacuate an installation on fire.
    • Apply the theory of the fire triangle in preventing fires at worksites.
    • Carry out a simple fire risk assessment on the premises.
    • Understand and use the principles of fire suppression.
    • Explain the meaning of a flashpoint and auto-ignition.
    • Understand the behavior of fire during its propagation.
    Training Methodology:
    • This interactive training course includes the following training methodologies as a percentage of the total tuition hours: 
    • 20%  Lectures
    • 80%  Practical Exercises, Case Studies, Games, Customized Videos, Site Visits, Simulations, Role Play, Group Skill Sessions, Outdoor & Indoor Activities
    • In an unlikely event, the course instructor may modify the above training methodology before or during the course for technical reasons.

    • General good health and the physical ability to safely carry out rigorous activities during “live” firefighting exercises.
    • Fire-field safety rules require all attendees to be clean-shaven.
    • Each attendee will be required to complete a screening questionnaire prior to training.
