    Studio Manager - Petrel - RILS (Remote Instructor Led Series)

    This is a Remote Instructor LedSeries (RILS) training. The remote classroom delivery is a modality thattakes advantage of the instructor led training content, while allowing thesame content to be delivered remotely. All training sessions will bedelivered online with no face-to-face classroom attendance.

    Studio Manager comprises a suite of tools for effectively managing the Studioenvironment. It consolidates administrative and core data management workflowssupporting the Petrel E&P Software Platform.

    Using Studio Manager, Datamanagers quickly understand the state of their Studio environment byusing cutting-edge applications (apps) to ascertain the status of repositories,review recent user activity, identify tasks that need to be performed, andperform the workflows surrounding those tasks.

    In this course, you will learn touse Studio Manager to:

    • Manage data for Petrel users
    • Implement and manage collaborationworkflows across your teams
    • Apply data management commonpractices

    The Studio Manager - Petrel - RILScourse will be delivered over a total of twenty-six (26) hours; i.e. in five(5) sessions lasting five (5) Hours each, except the last two sessions whichwill last 5.5 hours.

    Each participantwill need the following for an optimal experience of the course:

    • Windows-based PC
    • USB headset
    • Internet access
    • Second monitor or tablet for the course manual(s)
    • Webcam
      Day 1

      Session 1: Modules 1 & 2 (Part 1)

      (5 hours)

      • Introduction to Studio and Studio Manager
      • Repositories, Users, Managed Projects, and Roles Administration

      The Studio E&P environment features a powerful set of tools that allow geoscientists and engineers to access, review, and use information in the context of their workflows. The data in Studio is stored in repositories and managed projects, and accessible to Petrel users connecting to Studio according to the access rights provided by their Roles. The administration of repositories, managed projects, users, and roles are tasks done by data managers using various apps in Studio Manager.

      This session will enable you to:
      • become familiar with Studio, the Studio Manager interface and the the configuration setup tasks when working with Studio Manager
      • explain the concepts of repositories, managed projects, users, and roles in Studio
      • administrate repositories, managed projects, users, and roles using the apps in Studio Manager

      Session 2: Modules 2 (Part 2), 3 & 4

      • Repositories, managed projects, users, and roles administration
      • Coordinatereference system (CRS) administration
      • Indexand data environment administration

      Studiorepositories store Petrel data and Petrel supports loading, exporting, andtransferring point-based data and bin-grids in a spatial context. Both Studioand Petrel work with CRS catalogs, and in a Studio environment, theadministration of a CRS can be done using the Studio Manager.

      Studioalso enables to search and find all available information across multiple datasources. Using search tools, you can filter results based onspecific criteria. The search tools work based on indexes and dataenvironments, which are managed in the Studio Manager.

      Inthis session, you will learn how to administer Coordinate reference systems(CRS), Indexes and data environments.

      Session 3: Modules 5, 6 & 7 (Part 1)

      • Qualityattributes administration
      • Repositoryfilters
      • Datatransfers between Petrel and Studio

      Qualityattributes help to ensure the integrity and quality of data in the repository.Data items can be tagged with quality attributes which can be used to provideinformation about the data item, lock the data item, or preserve the version ofthe data item in the repository. There are several types of user-appliedquality attributes that can be configured using the Quality Tags app in StudioManager and applied by Petrel users to any supported data type in Petrel.

      Filterscan be applied to narrow the scope of data presented through the interface.Repository filters can be used in different places, such as the Data Table appin Studio Manager and the Studio transfer tool in Petrel. There are differenttypes of repository filters, which can be managed using the Filters app inStudio Manager.

      Inthis session you will first learn how to administer quality attributes andmanage repository filters. Then, for a better understanding of the interactionbetween Petrel and Studio, you will discover and use the data transfers tools,process and functionalities.

      Session 4: Modules 7 (Part 2), 8 & 9 (Part 1)

      • Datatransfers between Petrel and Studio
      • Dataloading to Studio
      • Matchrules

      Inthe first part of this session, you will learn about loading different datatypes into Petrel before they can be transferred to Studio repositories.

      Thesecond part of this session will uncover match rules in Studio which helpprotect data integrity and avoid duplicate data items in a repository.

      Session 5: Modules 9 (Part 2), 10 & 11

      • Match rules
      • Data correction workflows
      • Advanced database tasks

      Inthis final session, you will learn about other tasks which, beyond theadministration tasks, you can perform using Studio Manager:

      • identifydata transfer issues and take actions
      • manageuser attributes
      • fixglobal well log issues
      • organizedata in the repositories

      • installand uninstall a Studio Database
