    Chemical Treatment

    This course will provide participants with the basic knowledge for the safe operation and management of chemical treatment systems.  The course will emphasize the extreme importance of these systems for the safe and efficient operation of the entire plant.

    Discussions will focus on the hardware needed to provide chemical injections in a plant environment.  The various types of chemicals that are used in a typical oil and gas installation will also be reviewed.

    As the course progresses, participants will be exposed to the operating criteria for chemical injections, as well as the operation, characteristics, and the safety aspects that must be considered.

    Day 1

    Chemical Injection Systems

    • Documentation
    • Pumps
    • Associated hardware
    • Types of chemicals.

    On day one, participants will gain an overall appreciation for the documentation, injection pumps, and associated hardware found on a chemical injection facility. The various types of chemicals required to stabilize the process will be reviewed, as well as the basic characteristics of the chemicals injected into an oil and gas process.

     

    Day 2

    Operation of Chemicals Injection Systems

    • Criteria to select proper chemical injection
    • Characteristics of various chemical treatments
    • Operation of chemical injection systems
    • Chemical safety

    Day two will focus on transferring to participants an appreciation for the proper selection of chemicals and the characteristics of chemicals associated with chemical treatment systems.  The process and importance of safe operation and material handling associated with chemical treatment, as well as other environmental concerns will be discussed.

    This course is mainly targeted to process technicians, process technologists, and laboratory and maintenance personnel.  The course can also be applicable to employees working with equipment and materials purchasing, equipment procurement, job planning, and immediate supervisors to the working technicians.

    Participants should have some recent exposure to oil and gas facility terminology.
