HAZOP, HAZID & SIL: Hazard Identification, Risk Analysis, and Safety Integrity

A 5-day, skill-level, classroom program for surface-facilities and operations teams that builds practical competence in planning, facilitating, and documenting HAZOPs; performing HAZID and risk analysis; and determining Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). Through workshops and case work, participants apply guide words, define credible scenarios, evaluate consequences/frequencies with risk matrices and ALARP, and structure recommendations and reports. The course contrasts performance-based and prescriptive approaches (e.g., API RP 14C), maps protection layers (prevention, mitigation, IPLs), and introduces LOPA, PFD calculations, reliability concepts (failure modes, detected/undetected, common cause), voting/redundancy, and basic FTA—reinforcing strong separation between process control and safety control systems.

Production and facilities managers, engineers (design, process, facilities, instrumentation and control), operations and safety of process operators, safety/environment personnel, plant operators, maintenance personnel
