Courses

This course will focus on advanced well control issues, both from an engineering and an operation perspective. Design concepts will be covered for a wide range of straightforward, as well as hostile environments. The course will examine the relationship of well control and well integrity as the theory of well control has its roots is maintaining well integrity.   

The course will cover:

1.    The three tiers of well control, maintaining, controlled and complete loss.

2.    Well Control in advanced drilling operations.

3.    Blowout Control

4.    Rig/Operations preparation.

A significant part of the course will involve discussion, daily testing activities which may be completed outside the classroom schedule. Participants should have a personal calculator.  Part of the class will use Drillbench to demonstrate and visualize advanced well control concepts.
