Crude Oil and Water Treatment

Level: Foundation | Type: Classroom | Discipline: Surface Facilities Engineering

Learn how to diagnose and solve oil–water treating challenges from wellhead to export. The course covers emulsion formation/stability and methods to destabilize and separate water from oil; dehydration technologies and performance factors (e.g., Stokes’ law, electrostatic theory, demulsifier selection); crude-oil desalting principles, equipment, and design/operational considerations; and produced-water treatment to meet environmental and injection specifications, including solids removal, de-oiling, and chemical programs. Emphasis is on designing for changing field conditions (scaling/upscaling), operating reliability, and meeting quality specs.
