BOSIET - Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training

    Course Description

    • The OPITO-approved BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) with Emergency Breathing System (EBS) course provides a range of knowledge and skills relevant to travelling offshore by helicopter and working offshore, including safety induction, fire safety and basic firefighting; first aid; helicopter safety and escape using an EBS; and survival at sea.
    • Upon completion of the course the delegate will have an awareness of the generic hazards and associated risks encountered when working on offshore installations and the generic safety regimes and safety management systems in place to control and mitigate risks associated with hazards.
    • The BOSIET (with EBS) will also equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond appropriately in the event of an offshore emergency and to enhance their survivability through proper use of emergency equipment and procedures.
    Course objectives
    • The purpose of this basic firefighting training is to give participants skills, knowledge and expertise that will enable them to identify the conditions capable of causing fire, know how to use a fire extinguisher, respond appropriately to fire emergencies and follow the fire evacuation plan, adequately implement fire.
    • Prevent the occurrence of fire and explosion.
    • Reduce the risk to life caused by fire.
    • Reduce the risk of damage caused by fire to the properties, its Facilities and the environment;.
    • Contain, control and suppress fire and explosion in the Compartment of origin

By the end of the course the attendees will learn:
