Carbon Capture and Storage Safety - CCSS

    Course Summary
    • Today, several industrial companies are working to find a new way to safely store carbon underground as part of the strategy to reduce the global warming effect. The technologies they’re developing today could shape the future of large-scale carbon storage projects around the world.
    • Technical Teams are busy finding safe and secure geologic locations to store CO2 in different parts of the World like North America, Europe, Asia, etc. The countries are developing a safe process to inject CO2 thousands of feet under the earth’s surface into carefully selected geological formations where it can be permanently stored.
    • Once CO2 is underground and held in place by a thick seal rock, it gradually transforms into solid minerals.
    • SLB and other companies believe a large-scale development of CCS could store up to 50 million metric tons per year of CO2 by 2030 and double that amount by 2040.
    • Considering the actual number of CCS projects and the projects in the pipeline, it is crucial that the operational personnel involved with this type of Project know the main HSE considerations to ensure a safe, continuous, and profitable operation.
