    Fundamentals of Subsurface Hydrogen Storage

This two-day course will cover fundamental concepts related to the geological storage and extraction of Hydrogen.

    Introduction to Hydrogen

    • The role of Hydrogen in the energy transition (put the levelized cost of Hydrogen, comparison between Hydrogen and other fuels).
    • The Hydrogen Value Chain.
    • Properties of Hydrogen (thermodynamics, fluid-fluid and fluid-rock interactions).
    • Different Hydrogen Storage Technologies (with focus on Subsurface Hdrogen storage technologies)

    Hydrogen Storage Site Selection Considerations

    • Geological and reservoir considerations for Hydrogen storage.
    • Policies and legislation for Hydrogen storage.
    • Geochemical and microbial interactions.
    • Well design and well constraints for Hydrogen storage (well configuration, metallurgy, depth, max pressure, max temperature).
    • Operational considerations (rates, cushion gas, number of wells, etc.).
    • Hydrogen Storage Risks and Security (monitoring methods).
    • Case studies & Lesson learned about subsurface Hydrogen storage.

Oil and gas personnel, and professionals from other industries interested in improving their knowledge of subsurface aspects related to Hydrogen.
