Develop measurable skills and capabilities
This course introduces Petrel Production Interpretation (PI) as a quick engineering tool to evaluate production performance, interpret production data, identify productivity problems, and optimize completion/stimulation/production operations that are relevant to production and reservoir engineers to develop successful drilling plans, make completion choices, determine workover plans, and formulate development strategies.
During the first part of the course, analytical simulation techniques are introduced to evaluate the productivity of a single well using a range of “what if” scenarios such as: multiple well types, fracture designs for a horizontal well with multiple transverse fractures completions, and placement design of the wells for a tight gas reservoir.
Then, the course presents the basics of rate transient analysis (RTA), typical reservoir calibration RTA workflow, production data interpretation and evaluation enabling engineers to determine key well and reservoir parameters. RTA and non-linear regression techniques are used to achieve a history-matched analytical model.
The last day of the course, the attendee performs production forecasting for conventional and unconventional wells using both techniques, analytical simulation and decline curve analysis. In addition, this course covers workflows in production data analysis like identification of productivity problems using bubble mapping, data normalization and asset characterization using type wells.
