    Vacuum Truck - Driver/ Operator

    Course Description

    • Vacuum Trucks are, by definition, vacuum tanks that are truck-mounted or vac-trailer-mounted coupled with a high-velocity vacuum pump that hydraulically loads wet and dry material through vacuum hoses.
    • Vacuum Trucks are used for the safe removal of hazardous or non-hazardous materials from a worksite.
    • Total Equipment Training has a comprehensive training program available for your specific training needs. We can tailor our program for your site-specific needs.
    • OSHA has set guidelines for the safe removal of hazardous and non-hazardous substances as stated in OSHA Section 5 of Public Law 91-596, OSHA 29 USC 654 and 29 CFR 1910.120, as well as DOT CFR Parts 106-7, 171-180, and 390-397. In this session as virtual training is compliant with these guidelines and safety procedures.
    Course objectives:
    • All operators will receive classroom training and hands-on training by our qualified trainers.
    • At Total Equipment Training, we will work with you to tailor our vacuum truck training program to be site-specific and fit your needs.
    Through classroom and practical training operators will learn:
    • Pre-trip inspection
    • Rollovers
    • Hooking up/disconnecting to the trailer (if needed)
    • Foul weather
    • Working with cargo handling equipment
    • Truck fires
    • Proper loading and unloading
    • Driving and maneuvering
    • Braking system
    • Site safety hazards
    • Unit specific operations (vacuum or boom arm)
    Training Methodology:
    • This interactive training course includes the following training methodologies as a percentage of the total tuition hours:
    • 20%  Lectures
    • 80%  Practical Exercises, Case Studies, Games, Customized Videos, Site Visits, Simulations, Role Play, Group Skill Sessions, Outdoor & Indoor Activities
    • In an unlikely event, the course instructor may modify the above training methodology before or during the course for technical reasons.

    • This introductory safety training programme is designed to introduce the fundamental vacuum truck drivers/operators giving an appreciation of the potential hazards and controls that might be encountered by operating skip-truck.
