Petrel Geophysical Interpretation (RILS)

Level: Foundation | Type: Remote Instructor Led Series | Discipline: Petrel

This is a Remote Instructor Led Series (RILS) training. The remote classroom delivery is a modality that takes advantage of the instructor led training content, while allowing the same content to be delivered remotely. All training sessions will be delivered online with no face-to-face classroom attendance.


The Petrel Geophysical Interpretation course is designed to provide a detailed hands-on learning experience on the fundamental workflows inherent to the geophysics domain and their application in the Petrel™ subsurface software: 

  • Seismic data loading and visualization, quality control and optimization
  • Introduction to Seismic Well Tie
  • Faults interpretation and QC
  • Horizons interpretation and QC
  • Seismic attributes and techniques for specific geological environments: Channel, Faulted and Salt environments
  • Introduction to Mapping and Domain conversion. 


The course will be delivered over a total of twenty-five (25) Hours; i.e. in five (5) sessions lasting five (5) Hours each.

Each participant will need the following for an optimal experience of the course:

  • Windows-based PC
  • USB headset
  • Internet access
  • Second monitor or tablet for the course manual(s)
  • Webcam
