Eclipse Compositional Simulation - RILS

Level: Skill | Type: Remote Instructor Led Series | Discipline: Eclipse

This is a Remote Instructor Led Series (RILS) training. The remote classroom delivery is a modality that takes advantage of the instructor led training content, while allowing the same content to be delivered remotely.
All training sessions will be delivered online with no face-to-face classroom attendance.

Compositional simulation is useful when an equation of state is required to describe reservoir fluid phase behavior. Some applications include the modeling of a miscible flood scheme and compositional changes associated with depth. Similarly, a compositional model is the right choice to accurately capture the complex physics such as condensate dropout in the reservoir.

This course acquaints you with the construction of simulation models using the features of the Eclipse Compositional option. The course shows you how to set up and run a compositional simulation model. The course contains several exercises, each on a specific topic. The exercises build to a small study in which you can apply what you learned.

The course discusses the PVT properties of hydrocarbon fluids, how to analyze a PVT hydrocarbon fluid, how to prepare the PVT for compositional simulations, the differences between black-oil and compositional simulation, and how to use Eclipse Compositional.

The course will be delivered in four (4) sessions lasting ~ four (4) Hours each. An intensive agenda also implies a homework after each session. Hence full-time commitment is expected from participants.

Each student will need the following to attend:

  1. Windows-based PC*
  2. USB Headset
  3. Internet Access capable for 720HD video-streaming
  4. Second monitor or tablet (highly recommended)
  5. Webcam (highly recommended)

*Hands-on exercises will be performed using locally installed Petrel and Eclipse software; hence client machine must satisfy min. requirements. Alternatively, practical sessions can be accessed through DELFI Cloud Environment (subject to availability).
