Rock Typing is a method of classifying facies based on similarities in porosity and permeability, while honouring their depositional processes and diagenetic fabric. An ideal rock type can be integrated into a static geological model and used in reservoir simulation to predict fluid flow. Given its importance in the reservoir characterization workflow, this course will explore various rock typing methodologies and their suitability for clastic and carbonate depositional environments. Participants will gain a clear understanding of nomenclature and techniques used in rock typing.
The Reservoir from Overview of Geological Framework - Different types of Plays and Facies Models
Ground Truthing - Importance of core analysis (facies, porosity, permeability and Capillary Pressures, saturation Height Modelling)
