    Using Change Management to Ensure a Successful Technical Implementation

    • Understand why business initiatives require robust change management for success.
    • Learn to use the 40 tools offered to meet the change management requirements.
    • Recognize how to overcome resistance to changes required by the technical implementation.
    • Develop various plans – leadership, communications, risk and quality – to successfully deliver the initiative.

    Overview of Change Management Requirements

    • Topic 1: Understand the 5 requirements for successful change management 
    • Topic 2: Plan to overcome resistance to changes introduced by the technical implementation
    • Topic 3: Build a leadership plan that engages management in the success of the initiative        

    Laying the foundation for the initiative to be successful on the organizational level and not just on the technical level       

    Managing the Risks to the Success Using Change Management Techniques

    • Topic 1: Identify potential organizational risks to the introduction of new technology
    • Topic 2: Lay the foundation for the governance of the initiative using the RAPID model for decision making
    • Topic 3: Use persuasion to mitigate risks to the technical implementation       

    Participants will work to mitigate risks using a variety of techniques tol ensure that no risks are overlooked as they deal the usual technical risks.     

    Building a Communication Plan to Engage and Gain Support from Stakeholders

    • Topic 1: Understand all the common elements included in a viable communication plan
    • Topic 2: Conduct a stakeholder analysis
    • Topic 3: Use various communication techniques to manage expectations in stakeholders
    • Topic 4: Learn how to communicate issues/problems in a way that doesn’t create doubt in the initiative

    Key to any initiative is to develop a case for change that acts to build confidence in various stakeholders

    Cover the Tools Utilized in a Successful Planning Phase

    • Topic 1: Conduct an impact analysis of various changes on stakeholders and determine how to prepare them
    • Topic 2: Determine from the impact analysis which will require training and build a delivery plan
    • Topic 3: Identify various tasks that require collaboration and determine the organization’s readiness for successful collaboration

    Identify how to handle various changes with leadership, communications and training plans.

    During the Execution Phase of the Initiative, identifying the right preparation for the changes is critical to success

    • Topic 1: Review required changes in policies that must be implemented successfully
    • Topic 2: Apply competencies to roles and adjust role descriptions accordingly
    • Topic 3: Assess business readiness before “go live” focus on activities to address any areas that indicate lack of readiness
    • Topic 4: Determine how to handle punch list items to be completed after the initiative is completed       

    The success of any initiative will be it meeting the business goals and not just the technical goals. An initiative can be a technical success and a business failure if it does not finish successfully.
