    Business Planning

    Business Planning is a course that covers all the necessary skills needed to conduct analyses and develop strategies necessary for business planning.

    The first day covers the knowledge and skills needed to analyze the sources of information needed to create strategies to achieve business goals.

    Then on the second day the participants learn how to develop good strategies that will lead to success in meeting the objectives of the business plan.

    On the third day the participants learn how to build strategies that allow the unit or organization to try and achieve a competitive advantage. All the subjects are tied together at the end of the course to help participants apply these skills in today’s business environment.

    Day 1

    Ojectives

    • Learn about the internal and external analysis aspect of business planning and strategy development.
    • Know how to utilize the Porter models to analyze important factors that may influence business planning.
    • Understand the role of leadership and resource availability in business planning.
    • Learn about how SWOT analysis is useful to create strategies needed in business planning.

    The participants will be able to identify the knowledge and skills needed to analyze the sources of information needed to create strategies to achieve business goals. In addition, they will also learn about the Porter strategic analysis models, the SWOT model and how good leaders help in implementing business planning in their organizations.

    Day 2

    Objectives

    • Understand the basics of strategy development.
    • Know how the Generic strategies are used to meet organizational goals.
    • Understand how to use the BCG Matrix in strategy selection.
    • Learn best practices and some advanced topics in business planning such as due diligence and activity based management, and life cycle costing.

    The participants will learn how the development of good strategies can lead to success in meeting the objectives of the business plan. Also, they will learn about Porter’s Generic Strategies, the BCG Matrix model and how to incorporate Target Costing, Activity Based Management and Life Cycle Costing in business planning.

    Day 3

    Objectives

    • Know how to achieve competitive advantage.
    • Learn about how to use situational analysis and scenario planning in the business planning process.
    • Know how to use decision trees in business planning.
    • Understand how to develop effective business models.

    The participants learn how to identify the methods to build appropriate strategies that allow the unit or organization to try and achieve a competitive advantage. Finally, they will also learn how to use decision trees to raise the level of logical thinking in the organization and practice analyzing business planning success in real case studies.

    This course is best for managers or leaders who will be asked by their organization to make or be involved in making decisions.

    This course on Business Planning requires ability to read and write English as well as good English oral communication abilities. Participants will be expected to read at approximately the 9th grade level in order to utilize course materials to develop their skills in this area.
