Carbon Capture and Storage Safety – CCSS For Line Managers

    Course Summary

    • This course will familiarize the Managers of the organization with the key HSE concepts to be considered for a Carbon Capture and Storage Project (CCS) during its planning, execution, and evaluation.
    • Today, several industrial companies are working to find a new way to safely store carbon underground as part of the strategy to reduce the global warming effect The technologies they’re developing could shape the future of large-scale carbon storage projects around the world.
    • Technical Teams are busy finding safe and secure geologic locations to store CO2 in different parts of the world i.e., North America, Europe, Asia, etc. The countries are developing a safe process to inject CO2 thousands of feet under the earth’s surface into carefully selected geological formations where it can be permanently stored.
    • Once CO2 is underground and held in place by a thick seal rock, it can gradually transform into solid minerals.
    • SLB and other companies believe a large-scale development of CCS could store up to 50 million metric tons per year of CO2 by 2030 and double that amount by 2040.
    • Considering the actual number of CCS projects and the projects in the pipeline; it is crucial that Line Managers leading these types of Projects count on the knowledge about the critical HSE considerations to ensure a safe, continuous, and profitable operation.
