    Drillbench Dynamic Well Control Modeling

This 2 day course teaches the fundamentals of using the Drillbench Dynamic Well Control software (formerly known as Kick). It shows the users how to enter the required well data and how to run the dynamic well control simulations with the software. The course is a mix of power point slides and individual hands-on exercises to show the participants the use of the software. At the end of the course, the participants should be able to enter the required well data and run well control simulations using the software.

    Day 1
    • Well Control Overview
    • Kick Circulations
    • Kick Tolerance Calculations
    • Single Bubble vs Dynamic Models
    • User interface
    • Help Screens
    • Data input
    • Interactive simulations
    • Parameters and Charts
    • Exporting data
    Day 2
    • Expert Input Data
    • Managed Pressure Drilling
    • Batch Simulations
    • Kick tolerance calculations
    • Gas migration
    • Oil based vs Water based fluids

Drilling Engineers and Drilling Supervisors requiring a better and a more detailed understanding of potential well control issues.

On the first day students are given an introduction to well control modeling and are then shown how to enter the required data into the software.

The second day looks at the more advanced options of the software. In the second day we start with some of the advanced features of the software such as managed pressure drilling well control simulations.

Comprehension and understanding of well control principles is required to understand the input and output requirements of the software. Participants will also need to have an understanding of the basics of fluid and gas behavior and be familiar with circulating pressure losses and basic reservoir inflow.
