    Course description

    • Provide awareness of H2S hazards and effects. 
    • Provide awareness of safe systems of work in the event of H2S release.

    • Classroom - Listening and contributing to discussions and exercises (group Discussions and workshops)

    • Practical demonstration, Practice, and assessment 
    Objectives
    • Upon the completion of the course, the learner will be able to;
    • Identify the properties and sources of H2S and learn how to manage the risk of exposure
    • Knowledge of personal H2S monitors and Breathing Apparatus available in the industry 
    • Importance of mask fit testing. 
    • Identify the emergency procedures according to the management plan during an H2S emergency.

    • The properties and sources of H2S. 
    • Toxicity levels and exposure limits. 
    • Acute and chronic effects of exposure. 
    • H2S effects on metals, elastomers and polymers. 
    • Risk management. 
    • Break.
    • H2S gas detection including fixed and portable systems, their advantages and limitations. 
    • Respiratory protection includes different types of BA, mask fit testing, cascade systems, and their advantages and limitations. 
    • H2S emergency procedures during operations.
    • Rescue of H2S casualties. 
    • Detection and protection equipment overview. 
    • Written Assessment.
    • Assessment result declaration and certificate distribution to successful learners.

    • The course is designed for personnel intending to work on an oil and gas installation within UAE.
