This is a Remote Instructor Led Series (RILS) training. The remote classroom delivery is a modality that takes advantage of the instructor led training content, while allowing the same content to be delivered remotely.
All training sessions will be delivered online with no face-to-face classroom attendance.
The INTERSECT Reservoir Simulation course shows you how to construct and run simulation models using INTERSECT. The training solves a variety of reservoir simulation problems, and you become acquainted with the features of INTERSECT.
The course takes you through full field development workflows and demonstrates the flexibilities and benefits of field management with INTERSECT.
This course adopts the Petrel* platform as the primary front end for the pre- and post- processing interface.
The course will be delivered in five (5) sessions lasting ~ four (4) Hours each. An intensive agenda also implies a homework after each session. Hence full-time commitment is expected from participants.
Each student will need the following to attend:
*Hands-on exercises will be performed using locally installed Petrel and INTERSECT software; hence client machine must satisfy min. requirements. Alternatively, practical sessions can be accessed through DELFI Cloud Environment (subject to availability).
Reservoir simulation and INTERSECT Technology Overview
Motivations for using INTERSECT and a general overview of INTERSECT technology. Introduction to the Petrel RE workflow and the Petrel project that is used in the training.
Day 2Study Initialization and History Matching
Initialization options in INTERSECT and concepts that show how to accurately define the initial reservoir state. The module discusses the techniques that are available to match initial water saturation distribution from the petrophysicist and geomodeler. At the end of the module, participants will know the options available to initialize and history-match the simulation model for the reservoir management.
Day 3Fundamentals of INTERSECT Field Management
Field management strategies, such as the ‘Do nothing’ case, workover scheduling, infill drilling, production balancing based on various constraints, water flooding, voidage replacement, fluid reinjection, and water alternating gas.
Day 4Advanced Field Management Applications
Advanced field management options, such the impact of resource availability on simulation results and custom scripting to extend the capability of field management in INTERSECT.
Day 5Recap and Dedicated Review Sessions with Instructor
Individual review sessions with each student to review lessons and exercises. Student are encouraged to discuss all questions and problems faced during the class.
Reservoir Engineers, Reservoir Simulation and Asset Engineers.
Applied reservoir engineering and simulation knowledge are the key pre-requisites for this course.
An introduction to Petrel reservoir simulation workflow is also incorporated in the course since Petrel* is used as the pre and post processing platform.
