Develop measurable skills and capabilities
This course will provide the participants with the knowledge necessary to understand and enhance their mechanical aptitude of pipe fitting.
The purpose of this course will be to develop in participants a working knowledge of various types of piping and associated valves, as well as the different procedures and regulations associated with maintenance, installation, and repair of the equipment. With the completion of this course the participants will be equipped with the basic knowledge required to identify the construction and designs of piping and associated fittings.
Technicians in the petroleum industry are required to have good technical knowledge of piping. The technicians that participate in this training will be better equipped to repair and maintain these systems, as well as be able to increase the knowledge within the maintenance team. As a result, this will help increase the safe and efficient productivity of the mechanical systems. With further on-job training and experience each technician will be able to attend more advanced training, therefore enhancing the maintenance team’s capabilities and knowledge.
Identification and Construction
On day one, participants will learn about the identification and construction of piping and tubing systems. Several types of systems that will be covered include water supply, heating and cooling, sprinkler, gas, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process and power generating systems. Identifying pipe and tubing sizes by dimensions, length, and wall thickness and schedule will be covered. Finally, participants will learn about ferrous versus non-ferrous terms.
Day 2Maintenance and Diagnostics
The focus of the last day will be the maintenance and diagnostics of piping systems. Special attention will be given the describing the types of natural forces that wear on piping systems. These will include thermal expansion and contractions, weight, electrolysis, friction loss, turbulences, micro biological, and galvanic action.
This course is mainly targeted to mechanical technicians working in the field as an introduction or refresher. The course can also be applicable to employees working with equipment purchasing, procurement, storage, and job planning, as well as immediate supervisors to the working technicians.
Persons attending this training should have completed a mechanical or technical awareness course.
