Production Chemistry

Level: Foundation | Type: Classroom | Discipline: Surface Facilities Engineering

This course builds practical proficiency in the selection, application, and surveillance of production chemicals used to assure flow and protect assets across upstream oil & gas operations. Participants learn how to diagnose and control corrosion, emulsions, foams, inorganic scale, hydrates, paraffin (wax), and asphaltenes; specify water-treatment chemicals (e.g., coagulants/clarifiers, biocides, oxygen scavengers); and apply chemicals in oil transport/processing (e.g., demulsifiers, drag/viscosity reducers, Hâ‚‚S scavengers). Coverage includes corrosion-rate prediction and monitoring, lab/field testing standards, chemical-injection system design/operation (pumps, hardware, documentation), and HSE considerations—reinforced by software exercises and case studies.
