    Train The Trainer

    Course Objective

    • The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace. It is a practical qualification suitable for new and experienced trainers (external and internal) who wish to improve their classroom skills and obtain a training qualification that will enable them to deliver.
    • The focus of the qualification is on the effective delivery of training, allowing learners to develop planning, preparation, and delivery skills, including delivery methods, questioning techniques, time management, and management of groups and individuals
    The following points shall be discussed in the course:
    • Topics covered include the characteristics of an effective tutor, catering to different learning styles, knowing how to manage groups and individuals, effective question techniques, types of assessment, and how to use session plans effectively

    • Classroom with Theoretical and Practical Implementation 
    • Learning Objectives:
    • Be able to plan and prepare a training session
    • Be able to deliver a training session
    • Be able to evaluate a training session
    Course duration
    • 2 days theory  + 2 days practical application and evaluation + 1 day self study recorded sessions

    Accreditation:

    • Highfield Level 3 International Award in Delivering Training
    • Additional fee for an international accredited certificate

    Pass requirements:

    • Pass practical assessment of delivering short. training session on a subject chosen by the candidate

    • Introduction

    • Purpose of an ‘icebreaker’ and energizer and potential problems with them
    Ground rules 
    Roles and responsibilities of the teacher/trainer and how people learn:
      • Identify the needs of learners
      • Plan courses
      • Delivery
      • Evaluate
      • Other responsibilities
    Activity Group discussion  :
    • Different Class seating arrangements example - advantages  and limitations of each style and training session type where it is appropriate to adopt it 
    • Individual and group learning needs, the importance of inclusion 
    • Learning styles and types of learners
    • Kolb’s experiential learning theory/learning styles model
    • Highfield lock and key learning model

    • Aims and learning outcomes
    • SMART learning outcomes
    Activity – Discussion 
    • Which of the following session learning outcomes is SMART? Can you improve them if necessary?
    • Session plan
    • Developing and using training resources
    • Advantages and disadvantages of using professionally developed resources
    • Delivery - Catering for equality
    • Using effective communication - Communication methods
    • Factors that may distort the communication between learners and teachers/trainers
    • Purpose of asking questions during training
    • Assessment types and purpose of each type

    • Self-study refereeing to recorded videos shared by the training provider prior to the practical session

    Micro-teach session and evaluation of self and peers
    • Use the session plan you adapted/developed during your course
    • Plan questions and carefully consider timings and inclusion
    • Present 20 minutes session
    • Giving effective feedback to peers
    • Discuss the trainer’s feedback on your delivery
    • Submit a self-evaluation form about your session

    Day 5 is only needed for bigger group sizes and based on the mode of delivery “ half-day online course or full day face to face course”

    • This qualification has been developed for both experienced and new trainers who wish to improve their performance and obtain a training qualification that will enable them to deliver Highfield qualifications.

    • Prepare for effective training delivery
    • Select delivery methods and resources to meet the needs of the subject and learners
    • Prepare a simple timed session plan
    • Select and demonstrate effective delivery strategies
    • Effectively use resources
    • Demonstrate effective assessment strategies during delivery
    • Evaluate training delivery
    • Identify areas for future development


    • The instructor will check the Participant's English level to ensure learners can meet the necessary standard of language in which the course is being delivered.
