Effective Reservoir Pressure Maintenance is a virtual instructor-led training (VILT) course delivered in real time. The course is presented in two 4-hour sessions over a period of one day. It is delivered using the WebEx platform. The
course content incorporates passive and active learning approaches. The result is an unrivaled virtual training
experience.
This course discusses the skills and techniques required to implement pressure maintenance strategies in
INTERSECT* software using Petrel* Reservoir Engineering workflow tools, such as the Field Management user
interface.
The course provides you with the knowledge and software skills necessary to understand the challenges of reservoir
pressure maintenance using INTERSECT reservoir simulations. You learn how to apply strategies that range from traditional to advanced injection.
The course contains lessons and exercises that help you practice the strategies presented in the training.
You will learn how to:
• apply tailored guide rate strategies, such as reinjection, voidage replacement, and production balancing
• use field management action and instruction frameworks to design smart control techniques
• create and tune PID controllers to control pressure in a reservoir region
• use the LP Balance allocation in INTERSECT to optimize injection balancing
To effectively participate in the training, you must have the following hardware, software, and connectivity:
• Computer
• USB headset
• Video capabilities (720HD)
• Microsoft Office
• Internet access
Reservoir engineers involved in reservoir appraisal and field development projects.
E&P professionals who are interested in learning how to implement pressure maintenance strategies in their
INTERSECT simulation studies
The training includes four primary topics:
• The challenge of pressure maintenance
• Traditional injection strategies
• ‘Smart’ control techniques
• Optimized injection balancing
To successfully complete this course, you must have a working knowledge of numerical reservoir simulation using INTERSECT software. You also must know the basic operations of the Petrel Reservoir Engineering platform.
