Well and Group Control Techniques in Reservoir Simulation course is a VILT (virtual instructor led training) course delivered in real time. The coursed is designed for 4 hour sessions over a day period and is delivered using WebEx platform. The course content is structured to incorporate passive and active learning approaches to achieve unrivaled virtual training experience.
The focus of this course is to provide the required skills and different techniques to control well and group production in the flow simulation using Petrel Reservoir Engineering workflow tools.
It is designed to provide the attendees with knowledge and software skills for well and group control in reservoir simulation using the available techniques (Guide Rates and Priority) in our software technology. Different practical approaches used to optimize recovery such as penalizing wells that suffer from high water or gas production is demonstrated in the exercise sessions. The incorporation of workover procedures, from basic methods to advanced setting of a drilling queue to maintain production rates is also covered in the learning content.
Injection strategies and the available methods (reinjection, voidage replacement, and region pressure control) are, as well covered and how they can be combined to achieve effective pressure maintenance under the injection of both gas and water phases.
After completion of this course, the attendees will learn how to:
Overall, this course is structured in with relevant lessons and exercises to help practice the lessons learned.
To effectively participate in the training, each attendee will required the following:
Session 1 (2 hours)
1. Well Controls
- Well targets and limits
- Economic limits
This session covers the descriptions of well targets and limit and aslo how to implement in the Eclipse simulator using Development strategy tool in Petrel.
2. Group Production Strategies
- Guide Rate strategy
- Prioritization strategy
Details explanation and applications of guide rate and prioritization strategies are coverd in this session with hand-on exercises.
Session 2 ( 2 hours)
3. Workovers and interventions
- Common workovers
- Drilling queues
4. Group injection strategies
- Control techniques (reinjection, voidage replacement, region pressure control)
- Effective pressure maintenance using different injection strategies.
Reservoir Engineers involved in reservoir appraisal and field development projects and any E&P professional who are interested in learning how to control wells in reservoir simulation using the Eclipse and Petrel software.
