    Well Stimulation

This is a practical 5-days course to be delivered in MLC.

The course includes revision of theory on Matrix Acidizing and on Hydraulic Fracturing, and practical classes on laboratory procedures and operational procedures, utilising pumping and mixing pads, for familiarization with the supervision of operations at well site.

At the end of the course, Participants will be able to discuss with Service Companies the Execution and the Safety of Matrix Acidizing and Fracturing operations.

    Day 1

Revision of Matrix Acidizing (theory in classroom)

    • Welcome
    • 1st Day Quiz
    • Purpose of Stimulation (Matrix and Fracturing)
    • Discussion on Formation Damage
    • Matrix Acidizing Fluids for Sandstones and Carbonates
    • Main points to consider for supervising of matrix treatments
    Day 2

Revision of Hydraulic Fracturing  (theory in classroom)

    • Purpose of Fracturing
    • Basic Geomechanics and Fracturing Models
    • Fracturing Fluids and Proppants
    • Fracturing Schedules
    • Main points to consider for supervising of fracturing treatments
    Day 3

    Practical in laboratory

    • Laboratory procedures for Matrix Acidizing
    • Acid solubility tests
    • Lab tests for compatibility of Oil and Acids
    • Acid Response Curves (ARC)
    Day 4

    Practical in pad

    • Rig-up
    • Practicing with pumping units and blender
    • Rig-down
    Day 5
    • New technology in Acidizing and Fracturing
    • Last day quiz
    • Round Table

Professionals requiring basic training on the Supervision of Acidizing and Fracturing interventions.

    • Revision of basic Matrix Acidizing theory
    • Revision of basic Hydraulic Fracturing theory
    • Laboratory tests for Matrix Acidizing
    • Work with mixing and pumping equipment in dedicated pads in MLC
    • Brief introduction to new technologies in the disciplines.

Basic understanding of well completions and architecture, and basic concepts of geoscience. Before this course, Participants have already passed in classes where these concepts have been discussed.

This course is not redundant with classes previous attended, instead it introduces a practical approach to the Supervision of these operations.

Currently there are no scheduled classes for this course.
